NEW DELHI: The Election Commission has enforced it's model code of conduct in Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura which are going to the assembly polls on February 27 and February 18 respectively.
The full bench of the country's poll panel who addressed the press conference in New Delhi on Thursday said the model code of conduct has come in to force as soon as the poll schedule was announced.
They said the governments in the three north eastern states of Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura now can't make new announcement and a mechanism is in place to strictly monitor the implementation of the model code of conduct.
Tripura is going to the polls on February 18 while Meghalaya and Nagaland are going to the assembly polls on February 27 from 7 in the morning for the 60 member assembly seats.
The notification for the two north eastern states would be issues on January 31 inviting the nomination papers. The nomination papers would be received till February 7 a day before the scrutiny. The last date for withdrawal of nomination papers is February 12.
Counting will take place simultaneously in the three states from 8 in the morning on March 3.
