Adivashis demand ST status

A four hour protest dharna was held in front of DC office in Kokrajhar on Friday demanding solution to various issues of the Adivashi community, includes ST status, land pattas, introducing of Santhali language.

Hundreds of people from Adivashi community and members from Adivashi Sengel Abhijan, Jharkhand Desam Party participated in the protest.

A memorandum was submitted to the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi through Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar seeking early granting of ST status to the Adivashi community.
