Congress decides to go solo in BTC elections

KOKRAJHAR: Count down have started for the general elections of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) due next year as various political parties are show their politically activities to woo the party workers and voters in the area.

Congress party has decided to go solo alone and putting candidates in all 40 constituencies of the council in the upcoming BTC election.

"Congress party is fully prepared to contest in all seats with own candidates", said AICC Secretary Bhupen Bora.

Speaking the reporters here at Ranendra Basumatary Bhawan in Kokrajhar on Saturday, Bora said Congress party has started its political strategy build up to study political scenario in BTAD region.

APCC general secretary Durga Das Boro said that Congress party has recently formed a committee to make study on political scenario in BTAD region ahead council elections involving former chief minister Tarun Gogoi,leader of Congress legislature party,deputy leader of CLP and committee is working hardly in the region to woo voters.

He said that Congress party has started its men to men contact,organisation to organisation meet and discussed on the ushering and development of political scenario.

He echoed same voice of Bora,said that Congress party is fully prepared to contest the council elections and well mass supported candidates are getting ticket in the upcoming BTC election.

He denied the allegations of Congress's erosion in the state,said that Congress party is fully intact and no leader from BTAD region have switchover to the saffron party.However,BJP's former Tejpur MP Ramprasad Sarma is getting join in the JD-U party and several saffron party members are getting close contact with Congress party.He said that APCC is taking strong initiatives to organise election related meeting and awareness programmes in BTAD districts.He has claimed that Congress party is getting majority supports in the council elections.

A joint meeting of the BTAD Congress leaders,district president and booth level leaders was held at Ranendra Basumatary Bhawan in Kokrajhar on Saturday.

The meeting discussed at length length  on the political party strategy building up for council elections with preparedness for the healthy political uplifting.
