Arms recovered

KOKRAJHAR: Security forces have recovered large number cache of arms, ammunitions and explosives inside Manas National Park (MNP) under Gavarukundha range near Panbari under Bijni police station in Chirang district on Tuesday morning.

A joint operation was launched on Tuesday evening by Chirang Police in the general area of Gavarukunda inside deep jungles of MNP near Panbari and recovered huge amounts of arms, ammunitions and explosives on a buried condition. Security forces had come successful to trace out the arms with the help Indian Army tracker dog which had led to the spot where arms were buried.

Police suspects the recovery arms belong to NDFB- Saoraigwra faction which were kept buried.

The recovery arms,ammunition and explosives were included nine factory made rifle, 11 country made rifle, 56 ammunitions of 7.62 AK series,10 rounds of 5.56 riffle, 21 ammunitions of  7.62 sniper, ten round ammunitions of  7.62 Pika, 29 ammunitions of 7.62 CTN,f four magazines,98 empty cartridges and 17 kgs explosives (PEK).

Woman killed in 'witch hunt'

A witch-hunting case was reported in Kokrajhar after recovery of body of an elderly woman at Sutarpara village, Balajan on Monday evening. Four culprits were apprehended in this connection. According to police, an FIR was lodged with police on Sunday about killing of an elderly  woman by miscreants from Sutarpara village at Balajan police outpost under Kokrajhar PS. Youth Festival begin in Kokrajhar

A three day Youth Festival with colourful programme starts from Monday at Simbargaon playground in Kokrajhar district. The festival saw huge participants from different parts of the district. Bodies recovered

Bodies of an elderly couple were recovered from Sonkosh River side on Friday night who were dragged out of their home by unknown miscreants at Polashguri village in Kokrajhar district. According to police, a couple from Polashguri village dragged out and killed for suspected witch hunting, whose bodies were recovered from Sonkosh River today about 4 km from their village. They were identified as Jumon Hembrom (48) and his wife Sania Hembrom (40). Police arrested 25 persons from the village in this connection. Two NDFB-S cadres killed in an encounter with security forces at Simlaguri area under Amguri PS in Chirang district early Thursday morning. The cadres were identified as Lukash Narzary and David Islary. An Insas riffle, a revolver, grenade recovered from them.

Minors molested in Kokrajhar

Allegations arose against a fish trader in Kokrajhar town, who allgedly molested two-young maid servents. An FIR was lodged at Kokrajhar PS on Wednesday.
