Arms recovered

KOKRAJHAR: Security forces have recovered large number cache of arms, ammunitions and explosives inside Manas National Park (MNP) under Gavarukundha range near Panbari under Bijni police station in Chirang district on Tuesday morning.

A joint operation was launched on Tuesday evening by Chirang Police in the general area of Gavarukunda inside deep jungles of MNP near Panbari and recovered huge amounts of arms, ammunitions and explosives on a buried condition. Security forces had come successful to trace out the arms with the help Indian Army tracker dog which had led to the spot where arms were buried.

Police suspects the recovery arms belong to NDFB- Saoraigwra faction which were kept buried.

The recovery arms,ammunition and explosives were included nine factory made rifle, 11 country made rifle, 56 ammunitions of 7.62 AK series,10 rounds of 5.56 riffle, 21 ammunitions of  7.62 sniper, ten round ammunitions of  7.62 Pika, 29 ammunitions of 7.62 CTN,f four magazines,98 empty cartridges and 17 kgs explosives (PEK).

Kokrajhar police have caught Sanjoy Basumatary on Wednesday two days after he and his associate Rupom Roy gangraped a minor girl inside the Chirang Ripu reserve forest. Police arrested Roy on Tuesday after he was caught by local residents in Kokrajhar as Ge was moving near the railway station. Yet another shocking incident of gangrape in Kokrajhar sends huge wave of anger across the state. On the of the perpetrators has been caught by a group of people in the town before being handed over to police on Tuesday. The incident took place on Monday evening when two drivers forcibly picked up a minor girl from. To be repeatedly gangraped inside the Chirang Ripu reserve forest. When the victim revealed the incident's a section of the people spotted one of the culprits roaming near the railway station. Identified as Rupok Roy, he was caught and handed over to the police. A man was trampled to death by wild elephant at Dwimuguri village under Serfanguri PS in Kokrajhar district late last evening. According to villagers, an wild elephant reached the village late last evening by 9.30 pm along the village and vandalized two-three houses and a person was trampled to death while villagers tried to disappear the elephant. He was identified as Hangla Narzary, 33 years old of Dwimuguri village.
