Five arrested for carrying cattles illegally
Five persons were arrested by te police for illegally carrying cattles in five trucks on Thursday morning at Karigaon national highways in Kokrajhar district.
Police intercepted the trucks carrying 80 cattles, including 14 buffaloes during the petrolling in the 31C National Highways. The trucks were bound for Nine Mile, Guwahati from Pandipara and Sonapur of West Bengal. The cattles were purchased by Pioneer Livestocks.
During the checking, Pioneer Livestocks and truck drivers failed to show proper documents.Police later seized the trucks and the cattles.
An FIR was lodged with Kokrajhar police station in this regard, case registered no.481/2019,u/s 420 IPC,R/W sec. 11(1) (d) prevention of cruelty animal act,1960.
Arrested persons have been identified as Rahim Ali (29) of Kamrup, Tazmul Haque (24) of Darrang, Mir Hussain (28) of Dhubri, Mridul Haque (25) of Darrang and Abed Ali (27) of Udalguri.

Professor Indira Boro, head of the department of Bodo for Bodoland University, has been named for an award from the Sahitya Akademy for translation in Bodo language.

The arrested persons were identified as Hasanur Rahman, Mithun Miya of Mankachar and Mukesh Kumar of Bihar.
The smuggled Ganja was bound for Bihar from Agartala in a Scorpio vehicle, bearing registration no.BR 11V-7551.
