Earth Hour India to host 'Pedal for the Planet' cyclothon even

Earth Hour India, in collaboration with HSBC, BYCS India Foundation, EPAM, GCC, and Decathlon-Guwahati, will host a nationwide cycling event called "Pedal for the Planet" on March 25, 2023. The event aims to raise awareness about Earth Hour and promote a healthier, greener, and more sustainable lifestyle. The event will take place in 12 cities across India, including New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata, with the goal of creating the Biggest Hour for Earth. People of all ages are encouraged to participate and support the cause of Earth Hour. Dr. Bhairrvi Joshi of the BYCS India Foundation emphasized the importance of cycling as a solution to the urban challenges of physical, mental, and environmental health. The event will kick off with an 8 km Cyclothon in Guwahati, Assam, organized by WWF-India Assam State Office in collaboration with Guwahati Cycling Community and Decathlon Guwahati.

The objective of the event is to raise awareness about Earth Hour and promote a healthier, greener, and more sustainable lifestyle. Ricky Kej, Face of Earth Hour India 2023, has urged everyone, young and old, to participate in the Pedal for the Planet event and show their support for Earth Hour.

Dr. Bhairrvi Joshi, BYCS India Foundation, stressed the importance of adopting cycling as a means of transportation to tackle the climate crisis and promote a sustainable way of living. The Guwahati Cyclothon will take place on the same day and will cover a distance of 8km, starting from Dighalipukhuri and ending at the same venue.

Earth Hour India is calling on individuals, communities, and businesses to Give an Hour for Earth to create the Biggest Hour for Earth and celebrate the world's largest grassroots environmental campaign. The movement recognizes the role of individuals in creating solutions to the planet's most pressing environmental challenges and harnesses the collective power of its millions of supporters to drive change.

Three more officers likely to surrender

GUWAHATI:The more officers are believed to have been preparing to surrender before police probing the APSC scam where altogether 22 officers have already been arrested. According to sources, Nishamoni Deka, Rumi Saikia and Rakesh Gupta are likely to surrender at any moment from now one week after they went underground. Early in the morning, Mushalpur circle officer Raharshi Sen Deka surrendered before the police at Kahilipara in Guwahati to be immediately arrested. Later in the day, he would be produced before the special judge who remanded other 20 officers to 14 days police custody.

Former minister's son surrenders in APSC scam

GUWAHATI:Finally Rajarshi Sen Deka surrenders before the Dibrugarh police probing the nefarious APSC scam. Deka, the circle officer posted in Mushalpur in Nalbari district came to Kahilupara and surrendered in the wee hours week after hiding at an undisclosed location. GUWAHATI:After a huge gap of one year tiger terror is back to haunt Guwahati. Four persons sustained injury when a full grown tiger which was believed to have come down from the hill side in search of food launched a series of attacks in Dhirenpara area in the morning. Local denizens with the help of forest officials managed to keep the animal confined to a local school building for a couple of hours. Later it was tranquilized and rescued. The injured people have been undergoing treatment at the Guwahati Medical College Hospital. Major train mishap averted in Diphu

DIPHU:A major train mishap was averted much to a major respite for hundreds of people who were to Guwahati in Nagaland Express on Saturday. GUWAHATI: The Gauhati High Court will decide on the fate of Akhil Gogoi who has been languishing in Dibrugarh Central Jail under the National Security Act. On hearing a bail moved on behalf of the KMSS leader on Friday, a single bench of Justice AC Bujorbaruah asked the government to clear its position by November 21. NDFB-S rebel held in Bijni; arms seized

The security forces engaged in counter insurgency operation in BTAD areas claimed to have arrested yet another NDFB(S) rebels from Chirang district on Saturday.
