Manas National Park Reopens for Visitors, World Tourism Day Celebration Planned
The Manas National Park & Tiger Reserve in Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) is set to welcome visitors once again starting today, September 27, marking the end of the monsoon closure period mandated by the Government of India.
In a notice issued by Dr. C. Ramesh, Chief Conservator of Forests & Field Director of Manas Tiger Reserve, the park will be open to the public six days a week during the 2024-25 ecotourism season. To ensure conservation efforts, the park will remain closed to visitors every Wednesday throughout the season.
To celebrate World Tourism Day 2024, the department of Tourism, Government of Assam, in partnership with Bodoland Tourism, will host a grand event at Bansbari, Manas National Park in Baksa district. The theme for this year's celebration is "Tourism and Peace."
Assam Tourism Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah and Bodoland Territorial Region Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro will be the chief guest and special guest, respectively. The event will feature a cycle rally flag-off and a plantation drive.

A man was trampled to death by wild elephant at Dwimuguri village under Serfanguri PS in Kokrajhar district late last evening. According to villagers, an wild elephant reached the village late last evening by 9.30 pm along the village and vandalized two-three houses and a person was trampled to death while villagers tried to disappear the elephant. Police arrested two persons on Thursday, who are involved with illegally distributing pollution certificate without any vehicles for few years in Kokrajhar district. Police raided the immission testing centre,owned by Samir Bhattacharya in Kokrajhar town along JD Road near Ramkrishnapur.
