Tezpur : On 25th July,2007 All Assam Hills Tribal Council had organised a meeting in Sonitpur District in village Missamari. Benudhar Tumung, President and Nripen Ingti General Secretary of All Assam Hills Tribal Council was present in the meeting. In the meeting the Sonitpur District Committee has form to work for the Hills People living in plains. The new unit was formed with Chikari Terang as President and Sarching Teron as General Secretary.All Assam Hills Tribal Council is Non Government, non religious, non political organisation. The Head Office is at Guwahati. The Organisation is working for the upliftment of Hills people living in Plains.

First, tribals have to work hard.
Tribals are not competent farmers. So, Bangladeshis are prospering in our agriculture sector.
Look at the agricultural produce of Kharupetia near Mangaldoi town. Bangladeshis have taken over agriculture. They are not only good at growing crops and vegetables but also know to sell them.
What is the use of forming so many tribal organisations when the ground reality is lack of work culture among tribals?
In recently concluded Assembly Election, some stunning facts came into light regarding the polling pattern of 23 Dhubri Assembly Constituency, which has 15 Gaon Panchyats and a Municipal area. It is found: out of 153339 voters 125119 voters cast their votes and thus officially declared polling percentage is 81.5.
But in Dhubri Municipal Area, out of 50940 voters, 33896 cast their votes. This means 66.54% voters of Dhubri Municipal area cast their vote and it is merely 22% of the total voters of the Dhubri Assembly Constituency. A Chinese handgrenade was found lying at the residence of Chingai constituency MLA Khasim Ruiva early morning on Tuesday. The grenade was found by some family members inside the gate of his house located at Nagaram, Imphal East. A Manipur police bomb expert team rushed to the spot to retrieve the grenade and, later disposed it off at a open place at Lamphelpat area in Imphal West at around 11 AM, according to a police source.
At last Bokakhat police stepped in to rein in MLA Jiten Gogoi. Police on Tuesday arrested Gogoi in connection with the case No 64/2011 where he was charged with assaulting a woman and her family members. The women had to lodge a complaint with Bokakhat police who arrested Gogoi. But was released on bail after a few hours. Assam time was first to break the story that police registered against the independent legislator for assaulting a woman. But another case was registered against him the next day for unleashing terror at the resident of an AGP leader Girin Gogoi.
Despite heavy presence of security forces, arms smuggling refuses to die out in Assam. Security forces have apprehended a youth with arms on Tuesday in Karbi Anglong district. An uneasy situation is prevailing in Ledo following grenade attack at the residence of a local Congress leader. According to information, miscreants hurled a grenade at the residence of Badal Dutta at around 8 in the evening on Sunday. No one has been injured but the building in which Das and his family house has been partially damaged. Top ranked police officials rushed to the spot. But they are clueless about the incident. Sources have not denied the role of coal mafia since Dutta is associated with coal business.
A 12- year- old boy died when he was knocked down by a truck on Saturday at Thoubal parking, Thoubal district in Manipur, police said on Sunday. The incident took place at around 7: 30 pms last night when Akoijam Sivash (12) was hit by a speeding truck while he along with his two friends were going to attend at a Thabal Chongba programme at Thoubal Okram in the same district.
