Rong Bong Terang is Asom Sahitya Sabha president

Noted litterateur Rong Bong Terang has been elected the new president of Asom Sahitya Sabha on Sunday. The announcement to this effect was made by the state’s largest literary body came up at the Bhgawati Prasad Baruah Bhawan in Guwahati after the counting of votes sent by the district bodies ended. Kanak Chandra Sarma will be vice president while Dr Paramananda Rajbanshi has been elected as the secretary of the literary body. Terang is a litterateur whose epoch Rong Milir Hanhi sent him into the acme of glory. Contemporary social life in the state is very much there in his literary works . Jak Heruwa Pakhi is all about the ethnic frenzy between Karbis and the Kukis. The Assam agitation is what dominates his Krantikalor Oshru….During that time, he was attracted by the prose works of Hem Barooah’s Hagor Dekhisa not to speak of Banikanta Kakoti’s Sahitya Aaru Prem. Besides, he wrote a lot for Karbi language and literature. Mention may be made of Karbi Lamkuru, Karbi Kala Aaditag. Besides, some of his notable works in Assamese literature are Rong Milir Hanhi, Karbi Sahitya-Sanskritit Abhumuki, Nila Orchid, Smritir Papori and what not. It was Terang who for the first time used the word Karbi Anglong in his lyric.

Rongbong Terang is a great writer and a well-known personality of Diphu, Karbi Anglong in Assam. His work is really appreciable and unique. Assam Sahitya Sabha will go a long way under his presidentship. We wish him all the good luck and prayers for future.

Asam Sahity Sabha since its inception selecting the person as its President who hiself is an institution. This time Rongbong Terang has been selected to Chair the glorious organisation of the people of Assam. Hope, he will be able to lead the present complex situation for better cause of Assam and the North East with selfless design.

ULFA reblel killed in Hajo

A suspected ILFA cadre and a civilian died in two separate incidents of firing at the Bhoiratoli village under Hajo police station on Wednesday night.According to information, two suspected ULFA militants shot dead a farmer at around 8 in the evening forcing police and army to launch a masive manhunt. 3 died, 23 injured in Kaliabhomora accident

Three persons died and 23 others injured as their bus struck at a stranded truck near the Kaliabhomora bridge under Ulkuwani police station in Sonitpur on Thursday morning.According to information, the ill fated bus, bound for was Rangajan in Sonitpur from Hatipukhuri in Nagaon district was carrying a marriage party. Three persons died on the spot while other injured persons have been sent to the hospital. A seriously injured person has been rushed to the Gauhati Medical College Hospital. He is identified as Dipankar Hazarika. Two of the deceased persons have been identified as Suchen Mandal and Samin Barman.

Assam Congress full list by March 15

AGP, BJP last to be announce on Thursday

The Asom Gana Parishad and BJP have deferred the seat sharing deal on Wednesday due to the absence of Assam BJP leader Mison Ranjan Das. Bail for Ripun Bora in Danial case

Gohpur MLA and former education minister Ripun Bora has been granted bail in the sensational Danial Topno murder case as he appeared before a Chief Judicial Magistrate court in Guwahati on Wednesday.According to information, the court, fixed the date of next hearing in the case on March 16. Grant-in-aid to Assam under PMGSY

Ministry of Rural Development has sanctioned the release of part payment of Grant-in-aid to Assam for Batch III of Asian Development Bank Assisted Project – RRSIIP worth Rs. 200 crore under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).Accoridng to a government statement, the funds have been sanctioned as a first instalment of Grant-in-aid to Assam State Road Board, Guwahati.
