Gogoi visits NC hills

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi says the government would strictly deal with the law and order situation in the North Cachar even by deploying more security forces in the hills district. During his visit to the trouble torn district on Friday, the Chief Minister has reviewed law and order situation with top ranked civil and police officials in the hills district and announced that the trains would resume its services soon. He also visited Maibong and talked to the affected people and announced a Rs 3 lakh ex-gratia each to the family members of those left dead in the incidents.

Respected people of Assam, I don't know why we are neglected by government. Tarun gogoi has announce 3 lakhs for those victims who where killed in the recent violence in N C HIlls.. but we don't want money sir, but peace and political solution..the government neither is negotiating or taking stern action against the the culprits..WHY? Are u we not the citizens of ASSAM? ARE we not Citizen of India.? I really wonder why the government has no interest in cleaning the mess.. the culprits r getting stronger and stronger as each day pass..the militants of both tribes are unwanted..government should take action against them. or should we understand that you dont care..if it is then it will be problem for both of us ..as we general citizen will wipe out all the enemies may be militants or the government..till we live..thank u rohit

The first serious step is to talk with DHD, the cease fire group. This group is in ceasefire for more than 9 years without any talk . The leaders of DHD cease fire are to be blame more than the other fraction as the other fraction came out as the Nunisa group has not talk with any government. The people who are in the ceasefire designated camp they are having a good time with collecting tax apart from some package from the government.The congress government would never want to talk as they will need the support from the situation to come to power again as the condition of the congress is not good now in N C Hills.

2 dead as wedding bus skids off NH in Barpeta

At least two people were killed and 25 others were injured in a road mishap in Barpeta district on Wednesday midnight. The incident took place at Garhchuk near Bajali when a wedding bus skidded off the National Highway. The bus on the way to Simala-Bajai Bhethua, when the driver of the vehicle lost control and fell off the highway. The IED was recovered from a shop at Kakajan near Philobari under Dumduma police station during a search operation. Acting on a tip off, a joint team of Police and Army recovered raised the shop where the IED, weighing 5 kgs, was found. According to police, suspected militants kept the bomb at the shop for explosion.

New rebel outfit leader held in Sonitpur

Security forces arrested a self-styled leader of a new militant group at Gahpur in Sonitpur district on Thursday. The nabbed militant was identified as Bipul Bora and he claimed himself as the self-styled commander-in-chief of a new outfit group Sanjukta Rakta Bahini. Police claimed that the militant was involved in extortion in the district.

Mahanta vs Hazarika as AGP goes to poll

Former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta is facing a tough battle against leader Padma Hazarika in the race for AGP presidentship in Guwahati on Thursday. Mahanta, the two time chief minister, arrived in the party headquarters at Ambari at around 9-30 in the morning and casted his own vote. He was followed by his nearest rival and Sootea MLA Padma Hazarika who exercise his franchise. The counting of votes would take place from 5 in the evening when the polling would conclude at 4 in the afternoon. For the firs time, the regional party holds the polls to elect its president following the failure to arrive at a consensus candidate.

Hospital on Wheels now in Hojai Sub Division

National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) Assam sanctioned one mobile medical unit (MMU) exclusively for Hojai sub division under the administrative control of Jugijan BPHC. Mishap in B’putra: 4 meet watery grave

Four women met watery grave an overloaded boat capsized in Dhubri district on Tuesday. According to information, the victims were brick kiln labourers. All four bodies had been fished out while seven others have been rescued. Nearly 11 people were brick kiln labourers had gone to Dheerghat in the morning hours. They did not work and decided to return to Chapar and took a boat ride to shorten the distance. The boat capsized in the middle of the river due to over-loading.
