Youths formed CRHP

It has been seen that the government has failed in giving safety and security to many people in the hill district of Assam. The poor communication ails the information to reach out to people outside the disturbed areas. The civilians have been affected by the violence and terrorist activities in the hill district of Assam. N C Hills and Karbi Anglong have witnessed various forms of violence in recent years. The human rights violations in the district have not been documented in proper way. The worst sufferers are the women and children. The schools remain close in these days which violate the rights of children who are supposed to be in school. To give a voice from the rights perspective some young people of the state have convened a meeting and formed an organisation named Centre for Rights of Hills People. The organisation includes young professionals’, activists, teachers, journalists, etc from different parts of the hill district and some other parts of the state. CRHP will have its head office in Umrongso in N C Hills. The organisation will conduct various surveys, research, seminars and workshop in different parts of the state and outside the state. The meeting which was held on 1st June at Guwahati has selected 3 conveners for further activities. A committed will be formed in the first state level meeting of CRHP to be held at Guwahati in later part of June. The present conveners of the organisation are Ms Debita Kemprai, Ranjan K Baruah and Morningkeey Phangcho. The conveners have appealed to the entire concerned department to take necessary action to safeguard the civilians. The conveners have also appealed the civil society organisation to come forward and work for the development of the hill district of the state.

Swargojyoti Motion Pictures is going to start a campaign against piracy in the state. The start up programme will be held at the Guwahati Press Club on 27th March at 11am. According to a press statement issued by the organizers the campaign shall sensitize people against piracy in all over Assam and later on it will be extended to other parts of the North East. The 40th annual conference of All Bodo Students Union has been concluded at Boko on 16th March. The annual programme was participated by its members from different parts of the country. ABSU was established in the year of 1967 with an aim to highlight the Bodo community around the world.
