Guwahati has been a safe haven for a section of ULFA rebels for the last couple of months who are waiting to strike the city with huge explosions. The city police have arrested a suspected ULFA militant and recovered explosives from him on Saturday night. Police came to see an ULFA militant at around 9.30 p.m. near the IOC refinery Noonmati as a joint team of police and CRPF was on routine patrolling. The youth was seen walking along the railway line near the sector 3 area of refinery complex. When asked to halt, he tried to run away, but was caught. Police further seized one kilogram RDX, half kilogram cycle iron balls and half kilogram screws from the arrested militant identified as Dharmendra Kalita.
