People thronged at the Ujan Bazar Fish Market in Guwahati, Assam on 13-01-10 early morning, the day of Uruka, a ritual organized during the Magh Bihu Festival. The magh bihu festival is the festival of harvesting, where people harvested their crops and then celebrate the joy with traditional way.

HC to take up bail pleas of 2 MLAs on March 30

The Gauhati High Court has fixed March 30 as the next date for hearing the bail petitions by MLAs Jiten Gogoi and Kushal Duwari in connection with the recent alleged assault on a Kaziranga forest officer.Hearing the bail petitions on Monday, a division bench of Gauhati High Court headed by Justice H N Sarma, asked the Bokakhat police station to submit the case diary pertaining to the complaint lodged by the forest officer D Boro. Both the MLAs are reportedly absconding.Notably, the legislators recently physically assaulted forest officer Dharanidhar Boro at the national park after being denied permission for fishing.

Rani Narah: Crisis in Congress deepens

The rift within Assam Congress has further widened as five MLAs have threatened to resign in protest against party ticket for former MP Ranee Narah from Lakhimpur. Major disaster averted in school as truck stops at LP school

Two persons sustained injury as a truck was hitting a couple before entering a primary school in Dibrugarh town on Tuesday morning. That too minutes before the students were to come out for the mid day meal. According to information, the incident took place at around 12 noon when the truck managed to escape after leaving AGP leader Tara Buragohain and his wife injured who were riding on a scooter at the Graham Bazar area while the areas was teeming with people.
