Sahitya Sabha Week has been organised by Barpeta Sahitya Sabha on January 17 to 23. The event started with celebration of Silpi Divas. On this occasion on there were discussion and artists felicitation programme. The situation in and around Bahari in Barpeta continues to remain tense for the consecutive four days even as a BJP called twelve hour Barpeta district bandh on Wednesday. Though the bandh was by and large peaceful, situation in Chenga in the district went almost out of control before noon and police had to fire several rounds of bullets and teargas shells in the air to disperse the bandh supporters.
