Alka creates history by giving birth twin in Orang NP
Her name is Alka, a female forest elephant engazed in Orang National Park, doing duties to ferry thousands of tourists inside the wild life sanctuary for several years. She has created history when she gave birth twins last night in the sanctury. Acccording to S.K. Daila, DFO, Orang National Park, this has been a rare case in the world that a female elephant had given birth twins. Alkas exsisting calf is 5 years old.The DFO told The Assam Tribune that she had mated with a wild elephant last year in Orang National Park. Both the calves are female and no veterinary assistace were needed in the process of the delivery of the calves.The forest officials and civilians of Orang National Park have been rejoicing at the birth of the twin elephant calves in Orang National Park.

A minor girl dead and dozen others fell ill after they consumed prasad served at a religious function in Udalguri district on Friday. The tragic incident took place in Kalaigaon area where a ten year old girl died early in the morning. At least 71 others have complained of stomach ace and vomitting hours after they consumed prasad. The deceased was identified as Dipsikha Nath who died at the Mangaldai Civil Hospital. Talking to media, ADC DN Hazariaka said that the incident took place hours after they consumed prasad at the house of Harakanta Nath on Wednesday.
