Assam Natya Sanmilan organized workshop at Kalaigaon


Assam Natya Sanmilan,Kalaigaon branch organized a three day's workshop on recitation at Kalaigaon College from December 20 to 22.The programme was centrally sponsored by state committee of the Sanmilan.The workshop was formally inaugurated at a colourful function on December 20 at 9 am by Maheswar Boro, MLA, Kalaigaon. More than hundred children participated in the workshop which was conducted by Syad Najim Ahmed and Bipuljyoti Sarma of Assam Natya Sanmilan.The concluding day's open session started on December 22 at 12 am which was presided over by Bipul Chaliha, President,Assam Natya Sanmila,Darrang Zilla committee.A few distinguished actors and directors of the state namely-Abdul Majid,Najim Ahmed,Prasanta Phukan, Bipuljyoti Sarma, Jagaadish Sarkar, MCLA, BTC;social workers Kami Ram Saharia,Mahendra Saikia, Mukunda Ram Choudhuri were falicitated on the occasion with gamocha and japi.


Noted actor and director,Abdul Majid attended the closing days programme as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion he said that Dibrugarh university had already introduced a drama course for the secondary passed students who wanted to take up drama as profession. He further said that Assam Natya Sanmila was formed in 1959 at Dibrugarh town with Bishnu Rabha as its founder president.The sanmilan has 150 numbers of branches all over the state,divided into seven zones.The open session was also addressed by Brajen Bibek Nath, Prasanta Phukan,Jagadish Sarkar,Mukunda Ram Choudhuri,Nayan Nilim and Rimpi Das.The open session however seemed to lost much of its glamour when hundreds of boys and girls rushed to the stage to meet Nayan Nilim and Rimpi Das while Abdul Majid was delivering speech.There had even been an interruption of his speech when both the duo left the stage followed by hundreds of students leaving the premises near vaccant.

In a very tragic and barbaric incident, Puspanjali Das (19)wife of Chandan Debnath of Thakuriapara village under Bhergaon sub-division in Udalguri district has been burnt down alive on Saturday noon for non-payment of marriage dowry. The incident has shocked the district. The lady was put in a sac before thrown in a fire lighted in a heap of hay. Puspanjali was married to Chandan just three months bac.
