Shilabhadra ailing

Noted litterateur Rebato Mohan Dutta Chaudhory, popularly known as Shilabhadra, is ailing. His health condition deteriorated on Thursday morning and he was rushed to the Down Town Hospital for treatment. Mr Chaudhory is a retired professor with the Assam Engineering College, Jorhat.

Mob lynches ULFA leader

A senior ULFA cadre died while he was lynched by irate mob in Jorhat district on Monday.According to information, angry villagers captured hardcore ULFA cadre Manoranjan Pegu alias Mangal Singh and two of his accomplices while he was firing at the vice president of Golaghat Agricultural Marketing Board at Jaraguri under Dergaon police station.The villagers started lynching Manoranjan who died on the spot. Immediately after the incident and arrested the two associates of Manoranjan. Investigation is going on.

ULFA ready to resume talks with government

United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) hints at resuming talks with the Centre even as the government has yet to react.Disclosing this in a statement, the proscribed militant outfit says they are not averse to talk to the Centre but the issue of national rights and dignity must not be trifled.The statement reads: the peace process abruptly came to a halt.
