Cultural Function of Assam by Assam Association of Mumbai

The Assam Association, Mumbai organizes a cultural
function of traditional Assamese music and dance to be
performed by reputed artists specially invited from Assam
on Sunday 23rd September 2007 at Assam Bhawan,
Vashi, from 4 pm to 7 pm. Those cultural items were
created by Sri Sri Sankardeva, the greatest cultural and
social reformer of NE India.
On this occasion, the association takes the pleasure to
invite you and your associates/journalists to make this
event a success. We shall be grateful, if you kindly grant

It was very nice to get the news about the celebration of greatest saint of Asom Srimanta Sankardev, who was the founder of basic culture and peace in Assam, which is still followed to maintain our strong history.

Process for Phase-II poll begins

The poll process for the second phase slated for April 23 began across Assam with President Pratibha Patil issued notification on Saturday.According to the notification, the last date for filing nominations is April 4 while the scrutiny will take place on April 6. The last date for withdrawal of nomibnation is being fixed on April 8. Leopard captured in Guwahati

The Assam state zoo authorities have captured a four-year old leopard from Sahokuchi area in Guwahati on Saturday morning after it had sneaked into the human habitat from the nearby jungles.According to information, the leopard was spotted by a local resident Hemanta Barman who informed it to the forest officials. Later it was rushed to the zoo. This is the third one leopard captured in the city of Guwahati.

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi charged the Opposition AGP and BJP with fielding a charge-sheeted candidate to contest the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls. MK Subba escapes unhurt

Amid a simmering pre poll scenario, Tezpur Congress candidate and sitting MP Mani Kumar Subba escaped unhurt as some unidentified miscreants attacked his convoy on Friday afternoon in Gohpur.According to information, the incident took place at Khergate area near Gohpur at around 3 in the afternoon. Police releases sketch of Anil killer

Three days after Anil Majundar was shot dead, city police on Thursday has released the sketch of the gunman urging to the people to help them identify the culprit. According to information, the sketch was prepared by the Kolkata based experts with the statement of the driver of the veteran journalist as the entire incident took place in his full view on Tuesday night in Rajgarh. 15 people missing as boat capsizes

Atleast 15 people are missing when a boat capsized on the Brahmaputra near Bhutnath in Guwahati on Thursday. According to information, the boat capsized following a strong wind that lashed Kamrup at around 2 in the afternoon. Rescue operation is on. Five persons have been rescued so far. In yet another incidentr near Kiring gaon in North Guwahati, several persons are missing after a small boat capsized caught ion a string wind. Rescue operation is in progress.
