The Assam Association, Mumbai organizes a cultural
function of traditional Assamese music and dance to be
performed by reputed artists specially invited from Assam
on Sunday 23rd September 2007 at Assam Bhawan,
Vashi, from 4 pm to 7 pm. Those cultural items were
created by Sri Sri Sankardeva, the greatest cultural and
social reformer of NE India.
On this occasion, the association takes the pleasure to
invite you and your associates/journalists to make this

It was very nice to get the news about the celebration of greatest saint of Asom Srimanta Sankardev, who was the founder of basic culture and peace in Assam, which is still followed to maintain our strong history.

13 NSCN cadres killed in factional fighting

Black Widow kills one more in Haflong

Suspected Block Widow militants have killed one more person near Haflong on Friday morning to make the sutuation more volatile. According to information, one ZP Roia was killed near Haflong at around 10-45 morning. Roia is said to be the president of the Beitei apex body. Guv sets up panel to study GU VC resignation

Assam Governor Lt General (Retd) Ajoy Singh has set up a panel to decide on Gauhati University Vice Chancellor Dr Amarjyoti Chaudhury's resignation he field last week. NRL runs Rs 500 crore loss; AASU blames govt

The All Assam students Union has blamed it all on Delhi and Dispur for the uncomfortable situation of the Numligarh Refinery which is running a huge Rs 500 crore loss forcing it to hike the price and petrol and diesel.AASU leaders here say the government is doing precious little to resolve the problems of the refinery proposed in the historic Assam Accord, 1985. NC hills violence erupts again: 10 truckers killed

Violence in north North Cachar hills district has taken a grim turn on Thursday with the killing of ten truckers at Umransgu all of whom belong to the Vinoy Cement Factory.According to information, the incident took place at Panimur at round 1:30pm today when the suspected DHD(J) militants forced these to halt and set these on fire after killing the drivers and helpers. Immediately after the incident, the militants escaped creating panic in the area.Notably, on Saturday after army and police crackdown at Heralu camp in the hills district bordering Manipur, the militants announced withdrawal of ceasefire. All trains stand cancelled in NC hills

The Northeast Frontier Railway has been cancelled all trains in North Cachar hills distict as violence again erupts on Thursday. The crucial decision was taken following a series of attacks on railway stations and its employees for the last few days.On Thursday, suspected DHD(J) militants killed a goods train driver in between Mupa and Kalachand area under Maibong police station in the hills district in the morning. Mongoldoi: 4 died in car accident

Altogether four people died when an ambulance collided its head on a truck at Milanpur Chowk in Mangaldoi las on late Wedesday night. The deceased have been identified as Antony Mushhary, Lucia Mushhary, Suraj Biswakarma and Basat Biswakarma.
