Kalyan Baruah, the Guitarist

A guy from a small town of Assam, without any support and proper training achieved the position of ‘the most sought after Guitarist of Bollywood’ today. Yes, we are talking about none other than our very own. Kalyan Baruah who has created a niche for himself here in Mumbai.


Kalyan Baruah is the son of late Pramod Baruah and late Chandraprabha Baruah and was borne in Dibrugarh Medical College. His father was working in the forest department and since his child hood he was exposed to different music and culture. After his mother passed away he has sifted to Guwahati and his elder sister Minu Baniya and brother in law Indra Baniya looked after him. He joined Cotton Collegiate High School and eventually completed his Graduation in Anthropology from prestigious Cotton College.

He sifted to Mumbai in 1991 and shared a room with his friend Jatin Sharma in Andheri W. He has started his career with Jingles and TV commercials. He did many live shows, world tours with bigwigs like KK, Lucky Ali, Adnan Sami etc. Later on he played for Hindi film songs in various films. Eventually he got into production from the film called ‘Kaho Na Pyar Hain’ where he did both the popular songs: ‘Kyu Chalti hai Pawan’ and ‘Ek Paal Ka Jeena’.


Kalyan Baruah is very passionate about his job and is an extremely organized person. His close associates always vouch for his hard work and sincerity. He has many hits in his record and to name a few, allow me to cite these names:

Kalyan Baruah is passionate about photography too and loves to carry his camera everywhere. He is the father of two sons: Ayan (9 years) and Liban (6 Years) and both are studying in Mumbai. His wife Banashree is a singer and enjoys singing assamese tunes.
