The people of Raha,in Nagaon district have warned the State Fishery minister Noorjamal Sarkar against his decision to transfer the Fishery College based at Raha, established on March 7 in 1988, in Nagaon to Biswanaath Chariali in Sonitpoor district. The minister who visited the college on November 3 , made his decision clear before the college authority and asked them to join him in this mission despite of the uninterested mood of the authority. In support of his decision the minister reasoned the recent flood which caused little damage to the Profs. residents, students' hostels and academic offices of the college.
On the other hand, the people of the area are determine to stop this move of the college initiated by the minister at any cost and asked him to withdraw his decision before he is publicly assaulted. They further said that if the minister is so interested to keep the college safe from flood then he should have go for other ways instead of transferring the same from its origin place. They even ask him to transfer all the offices, schools, colleges of Raha to Biswanath Chariali as they were also inundated and damaged by recent flood. It is worth mentioning that the largest fish farm in the North-East region 'Jongalbalahu Garh Meen Pam' is situated at Raha.
