Landslide damaged several houses Dima Hasao

At least 150 houses (20 out of which are totally damaged ) at tilla basti area of Mahur in Dima Hasao are badly affected due to wanton earth cutting by the Construction companies in the name B G construction, people of Mahur alleged.


The people of most affected area like tilla basti of Mahur whose age-old houses developed big cracks on their buildings are finding very difficult to shift to safer places. Not only the buildings even the footpaths are also damaged due to the impact of BG construction at the downstream. They alleged that they have been approaching the authorities concerned but their voices remain unheard. Now they are passing sleepless nights fearing total collapse of their houses at any time. The company people are also not sympathetic towards their sufferings rather they threatened the villagers. The people of Dima Hasao have sacrificed a lot in terms of land for the construction of the BG project, since they are in favour of BG through the district, but the construction companies and even Railway authority
