In a major breakthrough the Police and Assam riffles apprehended one Mridul Das @ Moni, a Dimasa National Revolutionary Force (DNRF) cadre and prime accused of businessman killing from Kana Basti near Haflong on Friday. One .22 Pistol, 2 rounds bullets, extortion notes and some incriminating documents were recovered. Following search operation one linkman of DNRF namely Pauteuateuing Zeme was also apprehended. In its continuing operation, the Police and Assam riffles today apprehended (Uv 103519) corporal of NSCN (IM) namely Livingstone of Senapati District and Thunu Kemprai @ lovely Dimasa @ Smidu, town commander of DNRF along with two 9mm pistol from Bagetar, near Haflong.


Mention may be made here that one Swapan Dhar Chaudhury, (Paltu) aged 56, and owner of Rajiv Automobiles (Motor parts), Haflong just in front of his residence at about 8.05 PM on July 10th and DNRF had claimed to be involved in that killing.

Passengers stranded for hours as train derails

11th North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council election passed off peacefully

With the casting of 80% plus of votes in the polling to the 11th North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council election passed off peacefully and with great enthusiasm among the people of Dima Hasao District. Power tariff hearing on Saturday

The Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission on Saturday will hear a petition challenging Assam State Electricity Board’s move to hike in power tariff. Dima Hasao election: 1st Poll party left Haflong
