The Assam BJP unit will go it alone in the upcoming panchayat polls. It has no pact with Assam United Democratic Front and the Congress. The party leaders on Thursday said whatever a Congress minister recently said was totally a baseless one.
The leaders have strongly denied any poll pact with AUDF and the Congress saying it a Congress-sponsored rumour. Speaking to a private news channel, the party leaders said the ruling party has been losing grounds in the minority strongholds. Therefore, they are spreading this rumore to confuse the voters in the time of panchayat polls. Senior BJP leader and former Union minister Bijoy Chakravartty rubbished the forest minister Rockybul Hussain's statement that the BJP was forging poll alliance with AUDF and even Congress in some places.
However, the leaders said the party’s alliance with Asom Gana Parishad could make a different scenario this time to uproot the ruling party in the panchayat polls. Therefore, they are not averse to pact with AGP leaders in some rural areas.
