Sadhana Das passes away

Sadhana Das (69 years), wife of a benevolent social worker of Jorhat Jiten Das has left her mortal body on 21st June, 2007 at Dispur Hospital, Guwahati. She has left behind her husband, her only son Mr. Jyotimoi Das and her two daughters along with many other relatives.

4 indicted in Shillong sex racket

The Shillong police have charge sheeted Julius Kitbok Dorphang along with three women in the notorious sex racket they busted two months back in the capital city of Meghalaya. Police filed the charge sheet before a special court on Thursday and all the accused are in judicial custody for running the racket from a guest house where the victim was a 14 year old girl. The supplementary charge sheet is also expected in a day or two.

Gogoi slams budget

Former chief minister and senior Congress legislator Tarun Gogoi slammed the state budget saying the budget is far from reality. Talking to reporters after finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tabled the budget on Tuesday, Gogoi said the proposals don't match reality. “Preparing a budget is not a hard task. Finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday tabled the state budget for 2017-18 on the floor if the Houses proposing a huge list.Sarma said the budget would help the poor people improve their living standard with basic facilities at the doorstep. How unsafe is Guwahati

Yet another incident of miscreants attack on girl rocks Guwahati sending huge anger across the state on Monday. The victim, who hails from Golaghat district, has been struggling for life at the Dispur Hospital.The incident took place in Dispur amid heavy presence of security forces in the afternoon where a miscreant suddenly attack the girl with a sharp knife as she was on her way back to the hostel at Nahorini Path.Immediately after the attack the miscreant vanished and the girl who worked at the national sample survey was rushed to the hospital.
