Sadhana Das passes away

Sadhana Das (69 years), wife of a benevolent social worker of Jorhat Jiten Das has left her mortal body on 21st June, 2007 at Dispur Hospital, Guwahati. She has left behind her husband, her only son Mr. Jyotimoi Das and her two daughters along with many other relatives.

13 yr old dies after falling off a bamboo bridge

A class III student died after falling off of a dilapidated bamboo bridge on Sunday noon at Siuguri under Raha P.S. According to information received, the 13 year old student named Momtaj Begam accompanied by two friends was on her way home at the time. All of a sudden, she slipped off of the wholes of the dilapidated bridge's railing landing on the hard mud below. She was later declared dead at the hospital.

Sonowal in Delhi to talk expansion

Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal is on a visit to New Delhi amid the speculation of his preparedness to expand his cabinet.Sources told Assam Times in the capital that Sonowal is meeting prime minister Narendra Modi and party president Amit Shah for discussing the cabinet expansion.Modi and Shah are expected to approve the list of the new ministers which comprise five from BJP along with two each from AGP and BPF. The expansion was on the cards after January 15.
