Sadhana Das passes away

Sadhana Das (69 years), wife of a benevolent social worker of Jorhat Jiten Das has left her mortal body on 21st June, 2007 at Dispur Hospital, Guwahati. She has left behind her husband, her only son Mr. Jyotimoi Das and her two daughters along with many other relatives.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Friday admitted deficiency in the health department because of inadequate doctors and nurses.Addressing a CII meeting on health care in Guwahati, Gogoi said that the state has been falling short of doctors, nurses and medicine to combat the increasing number of patients. His comment assumes significance at a time when dengue outbreak grips the state.

Chirang police have rescued a student two days after he was kidnapped by miscreants from Mazabari area who were caught on Thursday. According to police, identified as Saidul Islam, he was kidnapped by unknown persons and rescued him from Mazabari area near Shyamtaibari under Sidli police station of Chirang district. The arrested persons were identified as Monohar Basumatary and Neemko Basumatary. A pistol and two live bullet recovered from their possession.
