Rampant black marketing of domestic LPG cyllenders is going on at Nazira. The two gas agencies of this small town has created artifical scarcity of cylinders. Cylindars meant for domestic purpose are also used by hotels, commercial establishments. As a result common people are affected.

To resolve the burning issue of Assam-Nagaland border and reduce the tention among the people in the border areas, a harmony meeting was organised at Singibill Bazzar on Friday. Forest officials in Sivasagar district captured a leopard which has been creating a reign of terror at a tea garden area in Geleky. Acting on the complaints of the local residents in the Modi Tea Estate area, the forest officials with the help of a group of people laid a trap where the animal landed on Friday night. Freedom fighter, president of Nazira District Freedom Fighters Association and veteran Congress leader Subha Gogoi breathed his last at his residence at Mazenga on Thursday.
