The 1st Assam Police Battalion, with a distinguished history dating back to its formation in 1942, recently marked a day of celebrations honoring its longstanding commitment to law enforcement, security, and disaster response. Originally formed as the Assam Rail Force during World War II, the battalion was officially established on July 15, 1942, as a vital Auxiliary Force.
The anniversary festivities opened with a solemn tribute to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. This was followed by a tree plantation drive to highlight the importance of environmental conservation. Throughout the day, several jawans were awarded certificates for exceptional performance, recognizing their dedication and hard work.
Battalion Commander Musleh Uddin Ahmed and Commander of the 4th Assam Command Battalion, Mihirjit Gaiyan, underscored the values of duty and sacrifice in safeguarding national security and public welfare, paying homage to the battalion’s fallen heroes. The celebrations continued with a spirited friendly football match that fostered camaraderie among personnel. A vibrant cultural program showcasing the region's rich heritage successfully concluded the day’s events, reflecting the battalion’s deep connection to the community it serves.
