Ijaz tops HSLC exam as SEBA announces results

The Board of Secondary Education announced the results of the High School Leaving Certificate and the Assam High Madrassa Examinations on Friday. Altogether 2,59,149 candidates emerged successful out of 3,66,476. The percentage of successful candidates stands at 70.71%.

Ijaz Ahmed from Pathshala Shiksha Pith in Barpeta tops the HSLC examinations. Second position goes jointly to Gourika Bang, Little Flower School, Dibrugarh; Manas Jyoti Sarma, Anand Vidya Niketan, Nalbari; Pingal Pratyush Nath, Sophy Mercy School, Sibsagar , Saurav Paul, Don Bosco High School in Sonitpur. Nayan Jyoti Sarma, Sankardev Shishu Vidya Niketan, Nalbari secured third position. The fourth position goes to Bhargav Pathak from Christ King High School. Nayan Ahmed from Mangaldoi Don Bosco, Darang Himanish Sen from Don Bosco High School, Sonitpur secured fifth position. Sixth position jointly goes to Abhiroop Bhowmik from Christ Jyoti School in Nagaon, Ripunica Gohain from Christ Jyoti School in Nagaon, Paritosh Sanjib Bailung from Sophy Mercy School in Sibsagar. Ridhi Lahon from Salt Brook School in Dibrugarh, Pranami Kaushik from Golaghat Jatiya Vidyalaya, Rituraj Barman from Sankardev Vidya Niketan in Nalbari and Swati Deka from Saint Joseph Convent in Sonitpur secured seventh position. The 8th Position goes to Rahul Kalita, Raha HS School, Nagaon , Sushmita Basumatary, Saint Joseph Convent, Sonitpur.

MORIGAON: Two stray rhinos have been unleashing no less terror in a remote hamlet in Morigaon district after it came from the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary on Thursday night. Local residents in Doipara spotted one of the rhinos moving in the open field in the morning. A team of forest guards has been trying to drive the rhinos back to the sanctuary. "I heard two rhinos. But came to see one. As I was walking in the open field came to see the animal moving to and fro striking panic among the cattle," said a villager. NAMRUP: Properties worth more than ₹3lakh reduced to ashes when a devastating fire engulfed three houses in Namrup on Friday. The incident took place in the wee hours in Nagadolong area where the fire which originated from electric short circuit engufed the house of Jayanta Bokolial. Local residents in large number came to the rescue. But by then the fire spread to his rented houses and the cowshed which charred his cattle to death. It took several hours to extinguish the fire which already ravaged properties worth lakhs of rupees. There is,however, no loss of human life.
DIMAKUCHI: Army jawans on Thursday claimed to have captured a hardcore rebel in Udalguri who has been unleashing terror in the form of extortion for the last couple of weeks. Acting on a tip off, the Red Horn division jawans picked up Mukuta Boro as he was on the way to Khairabari to extort money. A pistol along with a magzine was seized from his possession. NEW DELHI: Nagaland and Meghalaya are simultaneously going to the assembly polls on February 27 since the current assembly terms for both the north eastern states are expiring in March. The full bench of the country's poll panel who addressed the press conference in New Delhi on Thursday said the model code of conduct has come in to force as soon as the poll schedule was announced. Kokrajhar,Jan 17: Noted Bodo litterateur Chittaranjan Mashahary passed away after fighting for the last couple of months on Wednesday.  He he 76 when he died at his Belguri residence in Kokrajhar in the wee hours.    BTAD areas observed a half holidays on Wednesday to respect the demise of the huge figure. Sahitya pensioner Chittaranjan Mashahary was hospitalized a few months back. Recently he was  admitted at Siliguri hospital for better treatment following his prolong illness.
