Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said the government is willing to talk with the protestors if they shun the path of violence.
In a statement on Sunday, Gogoi said the doors for negotiations are always open for those who eschew violence and come forward for talks. “Violence will not solve any problems. It will rather compound matters. Only through non-violent and democratic, peaceful means all problems can be resolved amicably across the table. The doors for negotiations are always open for those who abjure violence".
The Chief Minister said that the government would not tolerate violent protests in any manner. “No one can be allowed to take law unto their hands”. he cautioned.
