Nazira regional AASU unit observed 27th Swahid Divas at Nazira town on Tuesday. On this occasion they organised a 'puspanjali program' at Nazira Swahid Bedi in the morning. 857 earthen lamps were lightened in the memory of the martyrs of the Assam agitation

Sanjay Singh's effigy burnt

Protesting the candidature of Sanjay Singh in the Rajya Sobha seat from Assam, Nazira sub-divisional and regional units of All Assam Student Union burnt the effigy of the state president of Congress(I)  Bhuveneshwar kalita and Sanjay Singh. Burning the effigies AASU activities shouted  slogans against the state govt. and Congress party.

Republic Day observed at Nazira

The 65th Republic day  observed  peacefully at Nazira sub division today. The central ceremonial programme was held at Nazira play ground where Mousumi Baruah, SDO Civil hoisted the National  Flag at 9-30 AM and received the guard of honour. Several distinguished  persons and well known  NGO Pragati of Nazira were awarded in the Republic Day function for their service towards the socio-economic development  of the area. No unwanted incidents were reported.

Sivasagar ADC  Isfakur Rahman, Border Magistrate Richland Ahmed, Chairman of the Nazira Municipality Abdul Rahman, Chairman of the Nazira Simaluguri Development Authority Horgan Rajkonwar participating in the program.

Abducted girl released safely at Simaluguri

Gunjan Sharma who was kidnapped by miscreants from Simaluguri on Wednesday has been safely released in the early morning on Thursday. She is a student of class 8th of the Central School, Nazira. She along with other 11 students of her school was abducted by unidentityfied gunman form Simaluguri Madrid Tiniali at 3 PM on Wednesday.  SP Sivasagar Bijoy Kuligram and SDPO  Nazira Ashif Ahmed launched a massive operation in the Assam Nagaland Border area of Santak Bihubor and found the abducted girl.

Pensoner association formed at Nazira

A general meeting of government pensoners of  Nazira sub division held recently at Nazira Bortola HS School.  In the meeting a 21-members-led Nazira District Pensoner Association was formed. Indrabhushan Mahanta and Hapun Bordoloi selected as the President and General Secretary  respectively of the newly formed oranisation. 

ONGC to explore Shale Gas

ONGC will explore for Shale gas which is found in few loations acroass India including the northeast. This was  disclosed by the Union Petrolium Minister M. Verappa Moilly, at a press meet held at the conferance hall of the ONGC Assam Asset, Nazira on last November 17. Addressing the press, the minister said that  under the New Exploration Policy 1999, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) had allowed the ONGC and the Oil India Ltd to tap Shale resources in Six Blocks-Cumbay, Assam-Arkan, Gondawara, K.G. Onshore, Cauvery Onshore and Indo-Gangatic basins. ONGC will drill at 10 wells shortly for exploration and commercial production. Shale Gas is used in U.S. and Canada...

Pikam Singh Harlalka passes awray

Well known businessman of Nazira Pikam Singh Harlalka passed away at his own residance of Nazira at 2 AM on November 22. He was 88. He survived by his wife and 3 sons. MLA of Nazira Debobrat Saikia and different organisations of Nazira condoled in the death of Horlalka.

Super speciality hospital at Rajabari

Due to the raising demand of different organisations of Sivasagar district, ONGC laid down the foundation stone of much awaited Rs.100 Crore super speciality hospital at Rajabari, Sivasagar on November 20. People and different organisations of Sivadagar district thanks ONGC for the great initiative.
