3 accidents: 8 dead

Amid Bhugali bihu festivity at least eight persons were killed and 10 others have been injured in three different road mishaps on Tuesday wee hours.
In a shocking mishap, four policemen were killed when the Scorpio vehicle carrying them collided head with a truck in Laluk in the wee hours. Three others have been battling for life in GMCH.
The second mishap took place in Bogionadi where a Tata Mobile vehicle carrying 13 people turned turtle on the road early in the morning where 2 died on the spot while eight others injured have been rushed to the hospital.
In yet another accident 2 people were killed as an Indigo vehicle rammed into a bike in Hajo early in the morning. The bike duo died on the spot.

The United Liberation Front of Asom(I) has owned up the responsibility of the explosion at an ONGC pipeline in Sonari on Saturday. In a statement issued to media on Sunday, the rebel outfit said that they will continue these until and unless sovereignty is restored on the indigenous people. An ONGC pipeline was partially damaged when the  explosion took place at Teok Ghat with a huge sound in Sonari district in the evening. A huge rescue team of IAF,  army and police is leaving for a place situated 30 km in the north west of Tezpur to recover the Sukhoi 30 a day after the missing fighter jet was located with the help of satellite images. The rescuers have been finding it difficult to reach the spot in the dense jungle terrain because of an inclement weather where the jet fighter was understood to have crashlanded. A two-day flood mock drill has began from Thursday at Basic Training Centre in Kokrajhar which has been aiming to bring awareness about pre-flood situation among official and common masses in the district. The drill was organised by Kokrajhar Revenue Circle in collaboration with Kokrajhar district disaster management authority  where all line department official, employees of the government and NGO activist as well as citizens participated the drill.
