Amid Bhugali bihu festivity at least eight persons were killed and 10 others have been injured in three different road mishaps on Tuesday wee hours.
In a shocking mishap, four policemen were killed when the Scorpio vehicle carrying them collided head with a truck in Laluk in the wee hours. Three others have been battling for life in GMCH.
The second mishap took place in Bogionadi where a Tata Mobile vehicle carrying 13 people turned turtle on the road early in the morning where 2 died on the spot while eight others injured have been rushed to the hospital.
In yet another accident 2 people were killed as an Indigo vehicle rammed into a bike in Hajo early in the morning. The bike duo died on the spot.

ULFA rebel killed in Dikom blast

The explosion that left a man killed early in the morning in Dikom is an ULFA rebel. Identified as Boby Dohotiya, the rebel was killed as he was planting the bomb on the pipeline which suddenly exploded with a huge sound. The rebel outfit, however, has owned up the responsibility of the explosion a day before prime.minister’s visit to Sadiya where he is opening the country’s longest ever bridge over the mighty Brahmaputra bridging thr yawning communication gap in the entire north eastern region.

Blast in Dikom: 1 killed

One person died and five others sustained injury when suspected ULFA(I) rebels exploded a powerful bomb in Tinsukia district a day before prime minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Sadiya. The explosion took place at an OIL pipeline in Dikom near Duliajan with a huge sound where one person died on the spot. Sukhoi30 search in Aashrabari

A huge joint team of army and Indian Air Force is believed to have reached Ashrabari along Assam-Arunachal Pradesh to recover the Sukhoi 30 which went missing on Tuesday with two pilots on board. Cabinet clears AIIMS in Guwahati

The  Union cabinet on Wednesday cleared the proposal to set up the proposed AIIMS in the outskirt of Guwahati triggering huge protest in Raha where the local residents are staging road blockade on the National Highway No 37. Presided over by prime minister Narendra Modi, the cabinet meeting approved the Rs 1132 crore project under the Pradhan Mantrir Swasthya Yojana to be set up in North Guwahati revenue circle. The cabinet meeting approved the proposal hours after the National Green Tribunal deferred till July 25, the judgment of the plea against the move to set up the country's premier hospital in Changsari, a green belt where construction is strictly prohibited.

Don't disturb eastern frontier, Beijing to Delhi

China has asked India not to disrupt peace in Arunachal Pradesh a day after a Sukhoi  -30 fighter has gone traceless triggering no less tension along the Indo-China border. In his regular briefing on Wednesday, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Lu Kang said in Beijing that they do not have any information on the fighter plane which has been missing with two pilots on board hours after it took off from Tezpur. He said that New Delhi should stop disrupting peace in the eastern border, meaning Arunachal Pradesh which they claimed to have been belonging to Beijing.

Sonowal’s war against corruption

Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday vowed to firmly deal with corruption that cripples the public life in Assam. Karbi autonomous body poll on June 17

The state election commission in Assam has rescheduled the  Karbi Anglong Autonomous council polls to June 17 to get  26 members elected for the 30 member autonomous body. According to the revised schedule, the polling will take place on June 17 from 8 in the morning till 4 in the afternoon and repolling, if need be,  will take place on June 20 and he counting is slated for June 22.

Search on for missing fighter jet

Indian Air Force jawans are fanning in a huge area covering Assam and Arunachal Pradesh in search of the Sukhoi jet fighter which has been remaining traceless for the last 24 hours. Apart from AIF, army chopper been deployed in the search operation where the rescuers have been concentrating on Dubia area in Biswanath bordering West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh where the fighter jet with two pilots is believed to have crash landed.
