Amid Bhugali bihu festivity at least eight persons were killed and 10 others have been injured in three different road mishaps on Tuesday wee hours.
In a shocking mishap, four policemen were killed when the Scorpio vehicle carrying them collided head with a truck in Laluk in the wee hours. Three others have been battling for life in GMCH.
The second mishap took place in Bogionadi where a Tata Mobile vehicle carrying 13 people turned turtle on the road early in the morning where 2 died on the spot while eight others injured have been rushed to the hospital.
In yet another accident 2 people were killed as an Indigo vehicle rammed into a bike in Hajo early in the morning. The bike duo died on the spot.

The victim  is a mother of four children whom he raped before asking her not to disclose. Fighter missing near China border

A Sukhoi-30MKI is believed to have been remaining traceless in the sky along the IndoChina border triggering no less sensation in the north eastern region on Tuesday. With two pilots, it took off at 10:30 in the morning from Salonibari in Tezpur which has gone missing as soon as it reached the Indo-China border. Details awaited.

Suspected NSCN(K) rebel held in Ledo

A huge area in Tinsukia district bordering Arunachal Pradesh seems to have become a safe den for a section of rebels to unleash terror. Apart from ULFA, some NSCN (K) rebels are believed to have been moving in Ledo and Margherita giving the security forces enough reasons to be worried. Assam Rifles claimed to have captured a suspected NSCN (IM) rebel from Ledo area on Saturday. Identified as Vikram Chakma, the local resident of Changlang district was held from a house in Saliki village. A foreign made pistol was also seized from him. Police interrogation is going on.

3 Assam pilgrims dead in heat waves

At least three pilgrims from Assam died of heatwave inside the train on their way to the northern region. Many others in the train are falling sick. The passengers and pilgrims in the train which departed Guwahati on May 11 the authority has not provided them with minimum facility. “Even a drop of potable water is available inside the train. Despite repeated request, the authority has not blinked,” said a passenger. He said,”even the electricity fans are pathetic. The fans, mostly, do not function properly big to speak of the medical facility.” Named as Aastha, the newly introduced train for the pilgrims left for the northern region on May 11 from Guwahati.

NE woman gangraped in Delhi

Delhi and NCR are still unsafe for the north eastern women if Sunday’s incident is any indication. A gang of three miscreants taped a Sikkimese woman inside a moving vehicle where she was forcibly taken away from Gurgaon on Sunday. According to the complaint, the miscreants forcibly lifted the woman at night immediately after landed near her house in Sector 7 on her way back from the Cannaught Palace in New Delhi where she works.
