3 accidents: 8 dead

Amid Bhugali bihu festivity at least eight persons were killed and 10 others have been injured in three different road mishaps on Tuesday wee hours.
In a shocking mishap, four policemen were killed when the Scorpio vehicle carrying them collided head with a truck in Laluk in the wee hours. Three others have been battling for life in GMCH.
The second mishap took place in Bogionadi where a Tata Mobile vehicle carrying 13 people turned turtle on the road early in the morning where 2 died on the spot while eight others injured have been rushed to the hospital.
In yet another accident 2 people were killed as an Indigo vehicle rammed into a bike in Hajo early in the morning. The bike duo died on the spot.

CID officer arrested on favouritism charge

2 burnt alive as gas tanker hits tree

Two people were charred to death when a gas tanker caught fire after hitting a tree in Nagaon district of Assam on Wednesday. The incident took place at Baghjan area in Koliabor where a Guwahati bound gas tanker hit a huge tree on the roadside resulting in a huge inferno where the truck driver and his associate were burnt alive. Immediately the inferno spread to the nearby houses and within an hour three houses were reduced to ashes. Fire tenders arrived in the spot. But by then fire engulfed the three houses. The incident took place four months after five people were burnt alive by a huge inferno in Rangoliting area in Golaghat after a gas tanker met with a mishap.

Don’t speak ill of China: ULFA-I to Dalai Lama

ULFA’s Paresh Baruah faction has asked the Dalai Lama not to speak ill of China during his upcoming visit to Assam. In a statement, ULFA(I) chairman Dr Abhijit Asom said that his anti-China remarks on the soil of Assam might trigger a 1962 like aggression on the state.
