Namami opens with Mukharjee’s appeal

Amid much fanfare and cultural extravaganza, President Pranab Mukherjee opened the Namami Brahmaputra festival at a glittering function on the mighty river bank in Guwahati on Friday conveying an appeal of ethnic diversity in the land of Brahmaputra.

In his opening remarks, the President Mukherjee urged the people to strengthen the bond of unity and diversity in the state where the saint Shankardeva’s neo vaishnavism added a new dimension which he said nowhere in the world.

Assam chief minister Sarba Nanda Sonowal said the mighty river, the lifeline of Assan gas huge potential which needs to be explored. Ggovernor Banwarilal Purhit,

Bhutan PM, Telengana minister and UP rural development minister were present in the function.
