Kangpokpi houses in danger due to landslide

Haijang Village Authority Kangpokpi district, Manipur urged the state government to look into the problem of earth crack in the area which has made houses to slide progressively.

The earth crack within the 1 km radius of the village area continued to slide and now that the situation is more than alarming for the villagers.

Four houses in the village are in danger of sliding down and hence families are living in fear of their houses which could be destroyed any time due to the earth slide. Some people have fled to safer places.

The situation has been reported to the Deputy Commissioner of Kangpokpi  for necessary steps but no response has been given to the clarion call so far.

Haijang Village Authory secretary Thangkhohen Guite urged the concerned authorities to look into the problem facing the villagers and also appealed to the social organisations to extend help to the villagers. 

Last month, a big earth crack in and around Kalikhola in Kangpokpi district destroyed around 11 houses.
