Patriotic musical programme on R'Day

Born to renowned Assamese artists Digen Mahanta and Progati Manahanta, the brother duo of Manmit and Mandeep Mahanta perform together as the band MbrothersH. Music runs in the veins of the duo as their entire family – with the likes of celebrated artists like late Khagen Mahanta, Archana Mahanta, Papon, Digen Mahanta and so on - has immense contribution to the art and cultural world of Assam.

Manmit and Mandeep have both been performing professionally since the past 15 years and have gathered their own fan base across the region as well as other parts of the country. Besides performing in numerous TV shows, they have also made a mark in music direction, composing and programming in Assamese television serials, theatres, short films, documentaries and individual projects. They have rendered their music and playback vocals in many features of All India Radio and Bollywod projects in the form of feature films, web series, short films and ad films.  

Mandeep has also represented India at the India festival held in Doha Qatar in 2019 while Mandeep has performed in Dhaka, Bangladesh during the death anniversary celebrations of late Dr. Bhupen Hazarika in November, 2019. Former in 2010, their band, MbrothersH, has performed live shows in many cities of India and their debut album ‘Kinu Ei Jatra’ was released in 2015.

NEW DELHI: Even after Dispur moved Delhi asking for steps to revive the HPC mills in Silchar and Jagiroad, the Centre has stepped up the process to privatize the industries triggering a hail of protest across the state.  The process to hand over the abandoned mills to the private parties came to light when an AASU delegation called on heavy industry minister Anant Geete in New Delhi on Wednesday.   The minister said both the mills would get a fresh lease of life only after the mills are handed over to the private parties. GUWAHATI: The Dibrugarh police probing the APSC scam on Tuesday arrested two more officers charging the duo with resorting to unfair means to ensure selection in the civil service examination. The special operation unit housed in Guwahati arrested Bikash Kumar Pincha, tax superintendent from Dhubri and his Morigaon counterpart Manash Pratim Haloi after interrogating six hours in this connection. They are expected to be produced before the special court on Wednesday morning seeking them in their demand. SHILLONG: Amid shock and anger hundreds of people in Shilling took to the streets on Tuesday evening to pay tribute to Jonathone N Sangma and five others who lost their lives in the rebel attack in William Nagar on Sunday night. NEW DELHI: The process to update NRC in Assam will be further expedited as the Supreme Court has asked the authority to publish the final draft on June 30.A division bench of the country’s top court comprising Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice RF Narimon on Tuesday said that the second draft should be published on May 31. The final draft was asked to be published on June 30.The first NRC draft was published on December 31, 2017. The court further declined to change Pratik Hajela as state NRC coordinator and also to appoint one more person inthe same capacity.
