Prez, EC issue poll notification

President Pranab Mukherjee and the Election Commission on Friday issued notification for the first phase of Lok Sabha polls slated for April 7.

The president issued the notification calling upon the people to elect their representative in the Lok Sabha.

The Commission issued the notification informing the people about the schedule for the elections.

This phase include 5 constituencies in Assam namely, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Koliabor, Tezpur, Lakhimpur.

Candidates for this phase of polls are now free to file nomination papers from Friday. The last date for filing of nomination is March 21.

These would be scrutinized on March 22 and they would be able to withdraw the nomination papers on March 24.
