Akhil ups ante on Gogoi

Once again KMSS targets chief minister Tarun Gogoi. Addressing a press conference in Guwahati on Saturday, KMSS president Akhil Gogoi asked Tarun Gogoi to step down alleging his failure to deal with the simmering situation in Uriam Ghat along the Assam-Nagaland border.

Gogoi, Kalita to talk to Sonia

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and APCC president Bhubneswar Kalita are understood to have been preparing to urge Sonia Gandhi to resolve the dissidence within the Congress legislature party.
Both Gogoi and Kalita are set to hand over an APCC resolution adopted recently to Sonia Gandhi urging the high command to resolve the issue at an earlier date.    

Three apprehended

Kokrajhar police apprehended three persons in two separate operations carried out in the district,which included a NDFB(S) linkman in Kokrajhar on Tuesday.

Based on specific input, an operation was launched led by SDPO, Gossaigaon on Tuesday at Raimona village under Gossaigaon PS where Dilip Mushahary (23) was apprehended from his house. He had been given extortion calls and messages using fake SIM cards, forged documents, etc to many soft targets like government employees in the name of NDFB (S) in the area.

A case has been registered vide Kachugaon PS case no. 60/16, U/S. 387 IPC, R/W Sec. 10/13 UA(P) Act.

Seven numbers of mobile hnadsets, four simcards and Driving License in the name of Dilip Basumatary were recovered from his possession.

In a separate operation,police apprehended two bike/vehicle lifters and seized a bike at Romanpara under Kokrajhar PS.They were identified as Swmbla Narzary of Romanpara and Pabitra Mushahary of Gwjwnpuri. Based on interrogation, the accused person led to the recovery of a stolen Bajaj Pulsar 220 F Colour blue and black, bearing registration no. AS16B – 4096, engine no. DKICCF18075 and Chassis No. MD2413E29CCFI9428 from his house.

‘Police has been taking stern measures against bike/vehicle lifting cases in the district’,said a senior police officer.
