Additional forces in Uriamghat

Extra security forces have arrived in Uriamghat along the Assam-Nagaland border in Golaghat district.

Altogether nine Central Reserve Police Force posts have been handling the situation. Now these new forces have increased the strength.

Immediately after the arrival of the new forces, the authorities cleared the blockade on the National Highway 39 leading to Nagaland on Tuesday.

The Centre rushed the additional forces after Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi had sought the Centre’s intervention for restoration of peace in the Uriamghat area of Golaghat.
