Family members of arrested television journalist Jaiklong Brahma alleged that police has not yet made medical care available to him. His wife Citra Brahma claimed that her husband suffers from high blood pressure and diabetes. "He is bereft of medical attention. More so, he is held up in an unhygienic lockup," she said.

She demanded medical facility for Brahma and that he be kept in a suitable room. Citra Friday filed a petition seeking immediate medical facility and health care.

Kokrajhar correspondent for News Live, Brahma was arrested on September 2 under suspicion of aiding the banned NDFB (S). He is presently under five days police remand.

AIUDF leader joins UPP

With extending support to the United People's Party ahead scheduled Assam assembly election on April 11 next, Rafikul Sheik, vice president of Kokrajhar district committee of AIUDF joined in UPP at a party meeting at Fakiragram under Kokrajhar west LAC in Kokrajhar district on Sunday.  Sheik along with his party supporters joined the party in the presence of huge party supporters and extended supports to the party.  'His joined the UPP party will blow a setback to the AIUDF party', said a political analyst.   

NDFB-S ultra held

Security forces apprehend a NDFB(S) cadre from Basabil area under Gossaigaon PS on Sunday in Kokrajhar district. Based on information about the presence of the militant outfit cadres in the area, a joint team of police and army launched an operation where a listed cadre of Gossaigaon platoon of the NDFB(S) was arrested along with arms. He was identified as Sanjay Narzary of Borsabil village. A pistol, two round ammunition was recovered from him.

BPF leaves three more seats to BJP

The Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) has left three constituencies- Sorbhog, Rangia and Bhawanipur to the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP), its ally party. Motor vehicle association warns for non-cooperation in election

The owner and members of the Motor Vehicles in Kokrajhar has warned to take non-cooperation during ensuing Assam assembly election in protest against non-payment of 32 crores of hire charge bills and previous bills of vehicles, which are pending for a long time in the district.
