In a bid to provide more information on various career opportunities, Career Counselling Cell of Sibsagar College had organised two days programme at its campus on 15th and 16th September. This was a general career counselling session which included most of the career topic including merging careers and talk on motivation and preparation for various jobs. Apart from career talk this programme was dealt on employability skills and other skills which are needed for any aspirants to get a job or become self employed or entrepreneurs. Hira Deka Bora, Principal of the college inaugurated the programme on 15th September which was attended by more than 200 students. Ram Kumar S, IAS, Asst Commissioner, Sivasagar District appealed to student to be prepared for the future. He asked the student to think on various jobs apart from PSUs as there are lots of opportunities available at present. Ranjan K Baruah of North East Youth Foundation was the resource person and facilitated the two day’s programme. Apart from providing information he had appealed the students to plan for their future. Naba Jyoti Sarma , Coordinator of the career counselling cell moderated the sessions and thanked all student for their participation . It is to be mentioned that District Administration has started K K Handique Career Counselling Programme in Sivasagar District and there was training for the teachers and as a follow up action by participants Sibsagar College is the first one to conduct the programme for their students.

The Delhi police have arrested a Supreme Court lawyer from Assam a couple of days after his car rammed into a biker after an altercation who died in the hospital. Identified as Rohit Krishna Mahanta, was arrested on Friday hours after the youth who sustained injury died at a hospital. The incident took place near AIIMS last week where Mahanta misbehaved with Gurpreet Singh as he opposed smoking just beside him. A 3.1 magnitude tremor rocked the north eastern state of Manipur a couple of hours after the one of 4.4 magnitude striking no less struck panic on Friday. An orgy of violence marred the 12 hour Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday called in protest against the Centre’s move to accord citizenship to the Chakma and Hajong refugees in the north eastern state. Security forces fanning in search of trouble mongers claimed to have captured a dreaded a rebel along with his associate in Karbi Anglong district on Tuesday. Identified as Jona Singh Rongpi, and Ranjit Bhumji, the KPLT rebels were arrested during a joint operation by CRPF and Police from Jamindar Teron. A lower court in Dibrugarh remanded Akhil Gogoi to fourteen days judicial custody after police produced the peasant leader before it following the end of police custody. Police sought Gogoi in their remand again for ten days to intensity the probe. But the court rejected it and sent the KMSS leader to the jail who was arrested for his open appeal to the people to remain prepared for armed struggle if the government fails to deliver the goods. Gogoi is set to move another bail plea before the court on Tuesday. At least 15 people were feared to have met watery grave along the Assam-Meghalaya border when a boat carrying them on a river capsized under the impact of a huge storm on Sunday. The tragic incident took place on the river Sabanjoria in Khalisbhatia in the afternoon. Ten bodies were fished put till Sunday evening and the search operation which suspended due to darkness resumed on Monday morning where five more bodies were fished out. Ten other people ate said to have been missing till now. Local residents along with SDRF jawans have been continuing the search operation on the river bed and more bodies are expected to fished out.
