The Central Bureau of Investigation grilled Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma in Kolkata for nearly six hours in connection with Saradha scam on Wednesday. Led by a DIG, a special unit of the country’s premier investigation agency interrogated the former minister from 10 in the morning till 4 in the afternoon at CGO complex in Kolkata. He is likley to be quizzed again.
Sources told Assam Times that Dr Sarma was questioned on the allegations of taking protection money from Saradha boss Sudipto Sen after he was introduced by Sadananda Gogoi whom CBI has arrested in September. Sarma reached the CGO Complex in Salt Lake at 9-45 in the morning just 15 minutes ahead of the marathon interrogation.
Earlier Dr Samra arrived in Kolkata from New Delhi along with his loyalist legislators. After a brief halt, he straightly droved to the CGO Complex where the interrogation began. Dr Sarma, who was supposed to appear before the CBI team on Monday sought two days time to be quizzed in this connection.
The same CBI officials on Monday grilled Congress legislator Anjan Dutta for several hours and allowed to leave the office in the afternoon two months after his residence and office were raided.
