Yoga, the last resort

Assam joined International Yoga Day with mass participating across the state on Sunday.
People thronged in thousands early in the morning at the Sarusajai Indoor Stadium to participate in the event at 6.45 organized by health and family welfare department.
Similar celebrations were seen at the Latasil Play ground, Assam Veterinary college play ground at Khanapara, Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra along with other public fields across the state.
Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Sarbananda Sonowal participated in the yoga performance at the Veterinary college playground at Khanapara. Guwahati Lok Sabha MP from Guwahati took part in the yoga performance at the veterinary college play ground.
Hundreds of schoolchildren in the city participated in a yoga programme at the Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati.

October 14, 2025 - Students from Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti School emerged victorious in the Assam State finale of the Wild Wisdom Global Challenge, defeating competitors from 109 other schools in what organizers called one of the most competitive rounds in the program's 18-year history. A devastating accident at the Ennore Thermal Power construction site in Tamil Nadu claimed the lives of nine workers from Assam and nearby regions on Tuesday, after a steel arch collapsed.
