Delhi: Caught in the controversy, the Uttar Pradesh police on Sunday collected the blood sample of PC Ram’s brother for DNA matching even as the family members of the kidnapped FCI official in the North East pin hope on his hassle-free release.

According to information, Dr Ram’s family members are in touch with the FCI chairman who has assured them that he would arrange a meeting with Union Home Minister, Union Home Secretary and Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.

On the other hand, the Union Home Ministry has asked for a detailed report of the kidnapping and reported killing of Dr Ram after his son Prabin’s latest claim that he had received a call from his father saying he was alive.

Our Guwahati Bureau: In yet another major development, the Assam Government on Sunday ordered a fresh probe into the case following the ULFA’s claim that Dr Ram is alive.

Official sources on Monday confirmed that a fresh probe has been ordered to ascertain the details of a case which is has become unique due to the various contradictions that have creeped in. The sources have also indicated that the Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi who is arriving in the capital in a day or two will personally monitor the investigation.

ULFA in the meantime has claimed that the FCI top brass is very much alive and is still in their custody and has demanded the release of their member Mrinal Hazarika from jail

It is the old orthodox dirty tricks of anti-national elements to let down established govt.One P.C.Ram may die but release of one anti-national element will lead to boosting of moral of the entire outfit, and this will result in death of many other Rams in coming days. Govt. of Assam should give a serious thougt on this.

What if the Govt let the 2 anti-nationals go away (with some kind of remote sensing miniature device embedded on their body!!) against the release of Ram? or India's mighty police force is not able to control anti-nationals anymore?

3 ULFA militants nabbed in Goalapra

Goalpara district had a narrow escape from a major explosion when security forces intercepted at least 10 kg of RDX from three hardcore ULFA militants on Saturday. ULFA’s pro talk team on Friday sought Centr’s help to bring back its general secretary Anup Chetia, who is in a Dhaka jail. Sonia likely to visit Assam next week

Congress president Sonia Gandhi will be on a day long visit Assam next week to take stock of the flood situation that rendered lakhs of people homeless. ULFA talks flood, immigrants with Centre

The Centre and ULFA’s pro-talk faction discussed several problems confronting Assam when they held the fifth rounds of peace talks in New Delhi on Friday. Led by ULFA chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa, the eight member delegation met with Union home secretary RK Singh along with several other Assam government officials in presence of peace interlocutor PC Haldar. Ensure release of Naga duo: Rio to Gogoi

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Friday Dispur’s intervention for safe release two Naga people kidnapped by KPLT on June 10 in Karbi Anglong. In a letter written to his Assam counterpart Tarun Gogoi, Rio said that there had not been any breakthrough for safe release of the two Nagas. KPLT militants kidnapped two Naga people, identified as Kelesel Kikhi and Khroviho Kikhi from Viswema village under Kohima district, along with a few other workers from a power project site in Karbi Anglong district.

Flood misery grips national sanctuaries

Caught in brimful misery, forest officials in the flood-hit Kaziranga national park have been trying their best to save wildlife severely after the entire sanctuary came under the flash flood. According to Kaziranga National Park authorities, about 80 per cent of the park falling in Golaghat district have been submerged. Same it is in the Pabitora wildlife sanctuary in Morigaon district. Flood waters have not spared the Manas National Park located in Barpeta district. The animals have shifted to the highlands to get rid of the devastating floods that wreaked havoc in the entire state.

Daring indeed: 8 trapped people rescued

IAF helicopter pilots from Mohanbari airbase in Dibrugarh managed to evacuated eight people who were trapped in strong flood waters. These include three pregnant women and two accompanying doctors, from their stranded boat stuck in Dibong river near Sadiya in Tinsukia district. According to IAF, the IAF crew navigated to the stranded boat and the pilot lowered the helicopter wheels to barely touch the nearby soft ground by holding on to the collective control, which requires consummate piloting skills.
