Assamese travel fiction released

It was a homely meeting organized at Guwahati Press Club that witnessed the release of a travel fiction titled Ontarior Seuj Dalisat (Over Green Carpet of Ontario) and penned by Dr Jagadindra Raychoudhury in presence of several senior journalists. Inaugurating the book, Swapnaneel Barua, a scholar and also a senior bureaucrat of Assam, pointed out that the writer not only documented various events related to his visit to Canada, but also painted a humanist reminiscence with his created characters.

The function, held on 1 July 2015, was also addressed by senior journalists like Hiten Mahanta, Rupam Barua, PJ Barua, Mukul Kalita, Ranen Kumar Goswami, Nava Thakuria and Pramod Kalita. Moderated by journalist Sabita Lahkar, the meeting was graced by acclaimed story writer Jyotish Sikder, professors Anup Talukder & Nirmali Medhi, singers Anindita Choudhury & Kishor Giri and Bitopan & Sneha. A prolific writer, Dr Raychoudhury is an associate professor of B Barua College, Guwahati and contributor to various Assam based newspapers and magazines. A smiling personality Dr Raychoudhury is also a regular participant in various radio programs and television talk shows. Published by Basundhara publication of Hatigaon in Guwahati, the book has 192 pages with a nice cover designed by prominent artist Padma Singha. It is priced at Rs 250/- per copy.

we know or have read many travel related books but "Ontario'r heuj dolisat" is not only a travel experience but is a travel fiction..A great experience as you keep on reading this book and gain new knowledge & issues..we expect many new books from him and wish him success..

Siddique Ahmed is industry and commerce minister while Gautom Roy is back as social welfare minister. But the Barak valley minsters took oath from governor PB Acharya at a simple function on Tuesday.Ahmed was sacked last year for doing dissidence with Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma while Roy was dropped when the chief minister affected a massive reshuffle last year. 
Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi on Tuesday dared state BJP MPs to face prime minister on the vital problems confronting the state for years. Talking to reporters in the sidelines of a function at the Raj Bhawan, Gogoi said that the BJP leaders in the state are not brave to apprise Narendra Modi of the real problems besetting the state and its people.Gogoi further rubbished the allegations of the central fund misappropriation. “The Central funds are meant for a specified purpose. How can I diver the fund. These allegations are baseless,” said the chief minister.   
Thousands of people in Boko have blocked the National Highway No 37 alleging the failure to nab Gopinath Das who allegedly raped his minor domestic help last month.At 10 in the morning local residents in large number thronged the National Highway in front of the Boko police station and snubbed the policemen for failing to nab the local MLA.They said that they won’t silent if the MLA is not arrested by the police even the Gauhati High Court rejected the anticipatory bail.   
After a brief gap, yet another witch killing incident sends shock and anger across Assam on Tuesday. The incident took place on Monday at Borghuli area in Sonitpur district.Local residents told Assam Times that a group of local residents stormed at midnight into the house of Pahguni Kawari to be killed alleging witch practice. Later police arrested four local youths in this connection. 
Gautom Roy and Siddique Ahmed took oath a new cabinet ministers on Tuesday. Governor PB Acharya administered the duo the oath of office and secrecy at a brief function at the Raj Bhawan in the morning. Chief minister Tarun Gogoi along with his cabinet colleagues, APCC leaders and parliamentary secretaries attended the function. Gogoi sacked both of them last year.
BJP leaders are on a 24 hour strike in Guwahati in protest against the crippling corruption of the Tarun Gogoi government. The leaders including its president Siddharth Bhattacharya, MPs and MLAs started the sit in protest at Dighalipukhuri from 5 in the afternoon on Monday alleging that the common people have been bearing the brunt of the government’s corruption. The protest is set to end at 5 on Tuesday.           
KMSS is taking out a huge rally in Guwahati on Tuesday in protest against the Centre’s notification for refugee status to the non Muslim Bangladeshi and Pakistani nationals.Led by KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi hundreds of protesters are thronging for satyagraha at the Sonaram Playground opposing the move. Then Gogoi will led a huge protest procession to the Raj Bhawan.Talking to Assam Times before the start of Satyagraha, KMSS leaders said that they won’t allow Narendra Modi to make Assam a dumping ground. “We will not bear extra burden of Bangladeshi and Pakistani refugees,” they said.       
Even an intensified operation has failed to trace out Gopinath Das who has been absconding for the last couple of weeks after he allegedly raped his minor domestic help. The Boko police probing the case will submit the case diary in connection with the sensational case on Tuesday.The authority has already transferred two police officers for failing to capture the Boko MLA. Meanwhile, police arrested three persons for forcible collection of the signatures of the victim and her parents at a blank papers.
