I-Day celebrated at Kalaigaon and Tangla
The 69 th Independence Day was celebrated at Kalaigaon and Tangla with gaiety. At Kalaigaon DN Hazarika,Circle Officer,Kalaigaon Revenue Circle hoisted the national flag at Gandhi Bakori field before receiving march past salute offered by five contingents namely- Lokapriya Bordoloi Public School, Tengabari LP School,Kalaigaon HS School,Girls of Kalaigaon HSS and Pride Academy in presence of nearly four thousand people.The march past event was commanded by Bandhu Ram Saharia. On the occasion the CO remembered thousands known and unknown heros of Mother India who had sacrificed their lives for present India.He also proudly recalled a few legendary freedom fighters of Darrang and Udalguri namely -Pani Ram Das, Bonshidhar Sarma and Kamaleswar Sarma of Kalaigaon. The Circle Officer felicitated meritorious student Seema Sarma for showing excellent results in the last HSLC examination.Spectacular cultural events were also arranged on the occasion by boys and girls to much delight of the people present. A friendly football match was arranged in the evening. Kamal Prasad Sarma and Lohit Nath anchored the proceedings of the day.
At Tangla
At commercial town Tangla, Bhaskarjyoti Manta, Circle Officer,Harisinga Revenue Circle hoisted the national flag at Tangla HS School Play ground in the presence of nearly five thousand people.Speaking on the occasion CO Matna requested people to remember the supreme sacrifice of those who had sacrificed their lives for the freedom of our country.Numbers of march past contingents of police,schools and colleges took part in the march paste event. Several persons were felicitated on the occasion for their outstanding service and talents. Unfortunately Atlanta Das of Arunodoi Academy Tangla,the topper in the last HSLC examination in Udalguri district with 94.5 percent marks and a few other meritorious students left out to the dismay of people present.

The district administrations in all the four districts in BTC area have been facing serious set backs due to the curtailment of most of the powers generally enjoyed by other Deputy Commissioners of the country. She has created history when she gave birth twins last night in the sanctury. Acccording to S.K. Daila, DFO, Orang National Park, this has been a rare case in the world that a female elephant had given birth twins.
